Aditi Preparing for 2020 Olympics

Aditi went for a picnic / outing on Saturday the 15th December, 2007. There, on a hotel
pavement, she started walking at a very brisk pace, you can call it jogging or running.

Very happy, very excited, full of josh and vigour, ADITI is picture perfect and innocence personified, as infants of her age are supposed to be.

How Did Aditi do it?

All of us know that, in a mobile phone one has to press sequentially a number of keys, sometimes repeatedly, sometimes navigating to perform a particular task.

For example, I counted (on my Nokia phone) ten key-presses to change an Alarm tone and select a new one. Including the more difficult two-presses for unlocking the phone. An extremely complicated procedure, you would agree.

Last night (22 Nov), Aditi was "playing" with my phone (which was in locked position) and, God only knows how she did it - this early morning I heard a new alarm tone, obviously altered by ADITI ! How did she do it?

கிட்டத்தட்ட ஒரு மாசம் ஆகப்போகிறது - பேத்திகளைப் பற்றி எழுதி ! இந்த ஒரு மாசத்தில் வழக்கம் போல இருவரிடமும் மிக விரைவான முன்னேற்றங்கள். அதிதிக்கு கீழே 4 பல்லும், மேலே 4 பல்லும் வந்துவிட்டன; ஸௌம்யாவிற்கு கீழே 4 பல் வந்துடுத்து. மேலே 2 தான்.

பேச்சு நெறய்ய வந்திண்டிருக்கு. சாப்பாட்டிலும் நல்ல முன்னேற்றம் - ஸௌம்யா காய்கறிகளோடதான் சாப்பிடறா. ஏதாவது காய் இருந்தே ஆகணும். அதிதியும் காய் சாப்பிட ஆரம்பிச்சுட்டா.

என்னுடைய இரண்டு பேத்திகளும் - ஸௌம்யா, அதிதி இருவரும் - பேச ஆரம்பித்து விட்டனர்.

ஸௌம்யா நன்றாகவே பேசுகிறாள் - இரண்டு, இரண்டு வார்த்தைகளாக கூட - அர்விந்த் கார், மீனா சித்தி என - பேச ஆரம்பித்து விட்டாள். வார்த்தை தெரியா விட்டால், தலையை ஆட்டி புரிய வைத்து விடுகிறாள். Aditi Sowmya

அதிதிக்கு இந்த அளவு பேச்சு வராவிட்டாலும் அவளும் நெறய வார்ததைகள் சொல்கிறாள். எல்லாவற்றையும் புரிந்து கொண்டு பேசாமலேயே செய்து முடித்து விடுகிறாள் - இல்லையென்றால், இருக்கவே இருக்கிறது அவள் கையும், கண்களும், சைகைகளும்.

தாத்தா - தாத்தா Aditi Sowmya

2007, ஜுன் மாசத்தில் எழுதினேன் - On Becoming a Thatha - என்று. அப்போது, பேத்திகள் ஸௌம்யா, அதிதி இருவரும், "தாத்தா எங்கே?" என்று கேட்டால், தங்கள் பிஞ்சு தளிர் விரல் நீட்டி என்னைக் காண்பிப்பார்கள் - என் மனசை அள்ளிக் கொண்டுப் போய்விடுவார்கள்.

சென்ற இரண்டு மாசங்களாக இருவருமே , அழகான தேன்மழலையில் "தாத்தா, தாத்தா" என ஓயாமல் என்னைக் கூப்பிட்டுக் கொண்டே இருக்கிறார்கள். இன்பத்தேன் வந்து பாயுது என் காதினிலே. பிள்ளைக் கனியமுது, பேசும் பொற்சித்திரம் இரண்டு பேரும் சொல்லு மழலையிலே என் உள்ளம் குளிருது. (மஹாகவிக்கு என் நன்றிகள்).

ஸௌம்யாவிற்கு முடி இறக்குதல் 2-ம் தடவையாக Sowmya

குழந்தை ஸௌம்யாவிற்கு இரண்டாவது முறையாக 2007, செப்டம்பர் 24-ஆம் தேதியன்று, அரியலூரில் கலியபெருமாள் கோயிலில் முடியிறக்கப்பட்டது. (முதல் தடவை முடியிறக்கியது பற்றி இங்கே படிக்கவும்)

அருண், காயத்ரி, அவளது அம்மா-அப்பா சென்றனர். முதல் நாளே திருச்சி / துறையூர் சென்று, அங்கிருந்து அரியலூர் சென்றனர். திரும்பும் போது, கும்பகோணம் வழியாக வந்தனர்.

அதிதியுடன் சந்தோஷமான நிமிஷங்கள் Aditi

இப்பல்லாம் அதிதிக்கு என்ன ஆசை தெரியுமோ? Aditi

கம்ப்யூட்டர் முன்னாடி ஒக்காந்திண்டு போட்டோ பாத்திண்டே இருக்கணும்.

நானோ, இல்லை விஜயாவோ கம்ப்யூட்டர் முன்னாடி ஒக்காந்தா போச்சு - ஓடி வந்து மடியிலே ஒக்காந்து கொள்வா. வலது கை சுட்டு வெரலை நீட்டி நீட்டி மானிட்டரை காமிப்பா- இதுக்கு அர்த்தம், "போட்டோ காமி!" Picasa போட்டு போட்டோ காமிச்சாதான் ஆச்சு.

போட்டோவையெல்லாம் ஒண்ணொண்ணா பாப்பா; தெனம் தெனம் பாத்த போட்டோதானேன்னு அலக்ஷியம் பண்ண மாட்டா.

அவ போட்டோ வரும்போதெல்லாம் "நான், நான்"னு தொட்டு தொட்டு காமிச்சுப்போ. ஸௌம்யா போட்டோ வந்தா இவ மூஞ்சியை பாக்கணுமே - ஒரே புன்சிரிப்புதான்! அப்பிடி ஒரு சந்தோஷம்.

இந்த சந்தோஷமான நிமிஷங்களுக்கு என்ன வெலை கொடுக்க முடியும் !!

பேத்தி ஸௌம்யா Sowmya

நேற்று (12 ஆகஸ்ட்) பகல் 4 மணிக்கு நான் அசந்து தூங்கி கொண்டிருந்தேன்; திடீரென யாரோ என் முகத்தை கையால் தொடுவது போன்ற உணர்ச்சி. சின்னக் குழந்தையின் கை. எப்பொழுதும் அதிதி பாப்பு தான் இது போன்று செய்வாள், இப்போதும் அவள்தான் என நினைத்து, "பாப்பு !" என கூப்பிட்டவாறே கண்களை திறந்தால் ---- முகம் முழுதும் சிரிப்பாக, என்னுடைய முதல் பேத்தி ஸௌம்யா !!

குழந்தையை நான் ஜூலை 23-ஆம் தேதியன்று பார்த்ததுதான். நடுவில் நான் பெங்களூர் போய் விட்டேன். சென்னை திரும்பியதும் குழந்தையைப் போய் பார்க்கவில்லை.

அவள் LOOSE MOTIONல் சில நாட்கள் அவஸ்தைப்பட்டாள் - மிகவும் சோர்ந்து போய், மெலிந்து விட்டாள். மனசுக்கு மிகவும் வேதனையாக இருந்தது. தற்போது தேறி வருகிறாள். நேற்று அவளைப் பார்த்தபொழுது, முன்னேறியிருப்பது தெரிந்தது. 20 நாட்களாக குழந்தையை பார்க்காத ஏக்கம் நேற்று மத்யானம் தீர்ந்தது.


நிறைய வார்த்தைகள் பேசுகிறாள். 4 பல் வந்துள்ளது. பாட்டி கொடுத்த பாயசத்தை ஆசை ஆசையாக சாப்பிட்டாள். சமத்து குழந்தை. Sowmya

எங்களுக்கு மூன்றாவது பேரக்குழந்தை பிறக்க இருக்கும் மகிழ்ச்சியான செய்தியை காயத்ரி இன்று (ஆகஸ்ட் 10) சொன்னாள். மிகவும் சந்தோஷமாக உள்ளது. வரும் 2008 ஏப்ரல் - மே மாசத்தில் பிறக்கும்.

மீண்டும் பேத்தியா? அல்லது பேரனா? பேத்தியோ, பேரனோ, இரண்டும் சமம்.
ஸௌம்யாவும், அதிதியும் அக்கா ஆகப் போகிறார்கள்.

கண்ணாடி போட்டுக்க ஆசை Aditi, Sowmya

எப்டின்னு தெரியல, என்னோட ரெண்டு பேத்திகளுக்கும் திடீர்னு ஒரு ஆசை - கண்ணாடி போட்டுக்கணும் ! நெறய பெரியவங்க கண்ணாடி போட்டுக்கறதை பாத்து இந்த ஆசை வந்திருக்கணும்.

ஆனா, ரெண்டு பேருக்கும் சொல்லி வச்சா போல ஒரே சமயத்திலே எப்பிடி வந்தது, இந்த வினோத ஆசை? அதுதான் எனக்கு வியப்பு.

ADITI's Ayushya Homam - 5 July 2007

ADITI AYUSHYA HOMAM

Aditi’s Ayushya Homam was celebrated on 5 July 2007 at Ananda Hall, Indiranagar, Adyar, Chennai.

I and Vijaya got up at 4-15AM and had our bath before 4-30. Then, one by one got up. Padma akka and athimber had come the previous evening and Ashok and Neeraja came by 9-45PM.

Aditi was woken up and given mangala snanam. She wore a beautiful red pavadai – sattai. She was looking gorgeous and radiant. We went to the hall in two batches – we two and akka & athimber in 1st batch and Ashok, Neeraja, Arvind, Krithika with Aditi in the 2nd.

Sowmya, Gayathri, Arun were the next to arrive. Then TSG, mami, and others started coming. It was a good gathering, nearly 80 persons. Sastrigal mama started the rituals by 7-30 AM. The kathu kuththal function started by 8-45AM and Aditi sat on the lap of Ashok. Like Sowmya a month earlier, Aditi too cried a little. She looked more beautiful after she wore the ear studs, just like Sowmya. My two granddaughters played with each other.

Lunch was served at 10-30AM and then the guests started leaving. All of us, including Sowmya, came to Karpagam Avenue in two cars. TSG, mami, Sugavanam, Girija, Sudha, and Dhanush also came. We had a good time, talking and watching Sowmi and Aditi playing. It was wonderful.

Thus, the Ayushya Homam of ADITI was celebrated in a grand manner. God bless Aditi and Sowmya.

Aditi 1st Birthday Celebrations

ADITI's FIRST BIRTHDAY - 17 June 2007

Aditi’s 1st Birthday was celebrated yesterday, 17 June 2007 in a grand manner. We decorated our front room the previous night itself, even though the function was to be held in a hotel. Ashok and Neeraja did it wonderfully well. They had come in the morning (16th) from Bangalore. Our other granddaughter SOWMYA came in the afternoon from her house at Tiruvanmiyur. With their arrival, the house became a fun place.

On 17th, Arvind went to Ambassador Pallava and brought the yummy birthday cake. Aditi who was already wearing one of her new dresses was dressed again in a fresh new dress. We too wore our best and started for Adyar by 3-45 PM.

The function was at Pizza Corner at Adyar. Guests started trickling in by 4-00 PM and soon the place was humming with activity. Usha, Gopal, Vibha and Veena who had arrived in Chennai on 16th from Delhi were among the first to arrive. There were more than 75 guests in all.

Aditi was in full flow and Sowmya too picked up soon. The two granddaughters were enjoying the evening.

Aditi cut the birthday cake to the cheerful response from all. Aditi started dancing and it was a beautiful sight ! Some games were played for the kids who had come. Sowmya, by now, was also in full mood and it was these two – Aditi and Sowmya – who were the cynosure of all eyes.

Then the snacks were served – two pieces of pizzas, two slices of bread, aloo finger chips, coca cola, and ice cream. Wow, that was yummy.

By 6 PM, the guests started leaving and the function came to a close. We collected the gifts and presents and came home. The function was great and enjoyable.

Our ADITI is now one year old. Sowmya had completed her first year one month ago on 17 May and today Aditi did.

Ayushya Homam - Sowmya

AYUSHYA HOMAM for Sowmya

Ayushya Homam is performed for a child at the completion of one year. This Homam is done for the longevity of life for the child.

This function is performed exactly on the Tamil Star day of the birth month (Tamil month). SOWMYA, our grand-daughter was born on Pooradam star in the month of Vaikasi. Her first year completion was on 4th June this year (2007) and we performed the function on this day (4-June-2007)

First, we booked the hall for performing the function. Arun went around Adyar area and fixed a suitable hall (Welfare Assn Community Hall).

Next, we got the invitation cards printed. A brand new Card Shop opened in Mandaiveli on 29 April 2007 and we were the first customers for this shop – we printed the cards on 3rd May. Later, we distributed the cards among our relatives, personally and by post. The Caterer (M/s Iyappan) was also arranged.

Sastrigal had given a list of things to be purchased and Vijaya and I purchased these at Mylapore. New clothes for Sowmya, Arun and Gayathri were also purchased. A Pattu Pavaadai was stitched for Sowmya. Arvind and Ashok joined together and purchased a silver plate for Sowmya.

Ashok and Neeraja came from Bangalore on the early hours of 2nd Jun and all of us left for Arun’s place on 2nd itself to prepare for the function – it was a great time with Sowmya and Aditi. The perishable items like flowers, fruits, vetrilai, thengai etc were purchased on the evening of 3rd.

On the Muhurtham Day, 4th June, we all (including Aditi and Sowmya) left the house by 6-45AM. The invitees started coming from 7-15 onwards and we all had breakfast of Rava Kesari, Idli, Pongal, Vadai. (70 persons ate). The function started by 9.00 AM, with Arun in Pancha kachcham and Gayathri in madisaar.

Saathukudi juice was served for nearly 100 persons. Almost all the invitees attended the function.

The Karna Bhushanam (Ear Piercing) ceremony started by 10-30AM – the special achari came from GRT, TNagar. Sowmya sat on her mama Ramana’s lap and the achari pierced the right ear of Sowmya first and inserted the thodu. She cried wildly. Then the next ear. With Sowmya crying uncontrollably. After 10 minutes, she stopped crying.

The Lunch followed. Then everyone started leaving. We were the last to vacate the hall at 2PM.

Thus, the Ayushya Homam (also Navagraha Homam) Function of Sowmya was celebrated in a grand manner.

Ayushya Homam for our second grand daughter ADITI will be celebrated on 5 JULY 2007 at Ananda Hall, Adyar

Sowmya & Aditi Get their Teeth

As usual, it is ADITI, who got her first tooth - by end of May 2007. Two teeth are "visible" at the lower gum.

Sowmya got hers within a couple of days, again by end-May 2007.

Will their look, appearance change when they get their teeth?

Children are GROWING ! My granddaughters too.

FIRST Birthday of SOWMYA

FIRST BIRTHDAY of SOWMYA

The first birthday of our grand-daughter SOWMYA was celebrated on 17 May 2007 at her place in Tiruvanmiyur. It was a great and happy function.

We two, Ashok, Krithika, and ADITI went there in the morning and started decorating. Earlier, on 16th, we two had gone to Mylapore and purchased a lot of decorative items. There was this cake-cutting knife which “sang” happy birth day to you when lightly pressed. And there was a musical candle too – it has a fountain of light and six or seven candles all automatically lit; these candles will also revolve around a circle, “singing” all the while. Great products, from China.

Arun, Ashok, Krithika, and Vijaya were actively engaged in decorating and the final result was fabulous. In the evening, Arun started preparing yummy sandwiches. I bought pakora, GBS brought Badam cake. The guests started arriving by 6PM; the princess was dressed and decked up. Birthday crown was placed on Sowmya’s head. A large cake and large quantity of ice cream had been purchased by Arun. The cake was ceremoniously cut by the birthday girl SOWMYA, to the singing of “Happy Birthday to you” by all the guests. She was given the first piece of cake by her appa-amma Arun and Gayathri. Needless to say, she enjoyed it.

Our other grand daughter ADITI actively participated in the decorations and she too enjoyed the evening (and the Cake). The two granddaughters were enjoying the evening.

Pieces of cake, Badam cake, pakora, and the yummy sandwich were given to the guests. After they left, we had roti, dhal, for dinner (bought from outside).

Thus the first birthday of our grand daughter SOWMYA was celebrated in a grand manner. God Bless her, Aditi, and others. The Ayushya Homam (Tamil Star birthday) will be celebrated on 4th June 2007.
